Japanese extends support to Afghan government through UN-Habitat

The Government of Japan last week approved JPY2,187 million (approximately USD23.77 million) of grant assistance to UN-Habitat for its Community-Based Municipal Support Programme in five Afghan cities.

UN-Habitat and partners in second phase of housing Sri Lankan conflict victims

UN-Habitat is extending its partnership with the European Union (EU), Government of Australia (AusAID) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to implement the second phase of the housing recovery project for conflict affected families. The project “Improving Living Conditions in Returnee Areas of Sri Lanka through Housing” will be implemented over the next 30 months- to mid-2015- in the North and East. The project will assist 4,000 conflict affected families in the districts of Killinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar and Batticaloa to reconstruct and repair their damaged houses.
