Special envoy concludes Zimbabwe mission
	Harare, 11 Jul 05 United Nations Special Envoy, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, at the weekend ended a two-week assessment of the evictions of some 200,000 people in Zimbabwe to prepare a report for UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

	Harare, 8 Jul 05 The United Nations Special Envoy assessing the evictions of thousands of poor people from housing and businesses in Zimbabwe was scheduled to visit the Victoria Falls district and return to Harare for a final round of talks before winding up her two-week mission at the weekend.

	Harare, 5 Jul 05 The United Nations Special Envoy for human settlements issues in Zimbabwe, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka was scheduled to travel to Zimbabwe’s second city of Bulawayo by road on Tuesday in the next phase of her assessment of the evictions of some 200,000 people in and around urban areas of the country.


Mrs. Tibaijuka, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy, meets Zimbabwe President
	Harare, 29 Jun 05 Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy evaluating the humanitarian aspects of the recent evictions of some 200,000 poor people in Zimbabwe, on Wednesday met President Robert Mugabe and got the green light to go wherever she liked, a UN spokesman said.


Annan names Mrs. Tibaijuka Special Envoy to Zimbabwe
	New York, 21 Jun 05 UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan Monday appointed the UN-HABITAT Executive Director Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, to represent him in reviewing the humanitarian aspects of the Zimbabwean Government's eviction of illegal dwellers and informal traders.


Sounding the alarm on forced evictions
	Nairobi, Kenya, 7 Apr 05 Saying that the Millennium Development Goals targeted the significant improvement millions of slum dwellers by the year 2020, the Executive Director said not only was the global community falling short of this target with an additional 50 million people having been added to the slums of the world in the past two years, but that the practices of forced evictions were worsening the lives of millions of urban poor each year.

	Ouagadougou, 18 Oct 04 Several thousand residents of an informal community on the outskirts of Ouagadougou on 12 October gathered to witness the signature of a plan of action to launch UN-HABITAT’s global campaigns on urban governance and secure tenure in Burkina Faso. The plan provides for spending amounting to US$600 million over the next seven years.
