Women's Partners

United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) - has conducted studies examining national and international legislation affecting women's economic, social and cultural rights in Latin America. It is also conducting research on the impact of privatization of civic services on women. http://www.unifem.org/

Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) - the Sub-Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa has undertaken several studies, for example on the impact of HIV/AIDS on women's land rights. http://www.fao.org/

Human Rights Watch - the Women's Rights Division has conducted research on women's property and inheritance rights in Kenya. The output is a publication entitled "Double Standards: Women's Property Rights Violations in Kenya" issued in March 2003. http://www.hrw.org/

Centre on Housing Rigths and Evictions (COHRE) - has publications on women and forced evictions and is instituting research on women's property and inheritance rights in 10 Sub-Saharan African countries. UN-HABITAT and COHRE are discussing ways of collaborating and coordinating their research activities in Southern Africa. http://www.cohre.org/

Habitat International Coalition - the Housing and Land Rights Network (HIC - HLRN) has developed tools to help monitor the implementation of housing rights. It is starting research into women's property and inheritance rights in Latin America and the Middle East. http://www.hic-mena.org%20/

The Huairou Commission
The Huairou Commission is a global coalition that forges strategic partnerships to advance the capacity of grassroots women worldwide to strengthen and create sustainable communities. Currently, the network focuses its joint efforts on four campaigns: Governance, AIDS, Disaster, and Land and Housing. Its Member Networks are: Federation of Women Municipalists of Latin America and the Caribbean (FEMUM), Groots International (Grassroots Organizations Operating Together in Sisterhood), Habitat International Coalition - Women and Shelter, Information Centre of the Independent Women's Forum, International Council of Women, Women and Cities International, Women and Peace Network and Women and Habitat Network - Latin America and the Caribbean.

International Land Coalition - under their Women's Resource Access Programme, the ILC, has published various brochures titles "Voices from the Field", which focus on women's access to land and other natural resources in different countries. http://www.landcoalition.org/
