IHS is leading a wide-ranging evaluation of the SCP project experiences over the period 1992-2002 in eight countries. So far reports are completed for Sri-Lanka and are at an advanced stage in Nigeria.
IHE is focusing its activities on Sustainable Urban Mobility (SUM), which is concerned particularly with urban transport that is both sustainable and practical for the poor. The SUM initiative has been implemented in Kisumu, Kenya with technical support of ITDG and will soon begin in Tanzania.
International Labour Organisation is partnering with the SCP in an employment and skills development programme “Decent Jobs and Better Services for the Urban Poor”. This is a capacity building programme that seeks to improve the living and working conditions of men and women in poor urban settlements in the developing world.
