UN-HABITAT and AMCOW agree to co-organize World Water Day 2011

The President of the African Ministers’ Council on Water, Edna Molewa has promised the Council’s support and commitment to join UN-Water, the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation, UNEP, UN-HABITAT and other partners in organizing the global celebrations of next year’s World Water Day.
UN-HABITAT marks World Water Day
Nairobi, 22 Mar 07
UN-HABITAT’s Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, raised the alarm over the one billion people, many of them in urban areas, who do not have access to safe water. She appealed for urgent action to improve provision for water to the urban poor.
