By identifying, evaluating and documenting best practices, the Best Practices and Local Leadership Programme (BLP) offers various opportunities for knowledge transfer. These opportunities are availed to the varied users through;

  • The Best Practices Database – the arena for documentation and dissemination of best practices
  • Case studies – an analysis of lessons learned from selected best practices and transferred to other countries, cities or communities through peer-to-peer learning and city-to-city transfers. These lessons are invaluable in understanding situations, problems and development of alternative actions to address the day to day challenges in the living-environment. They also offer a knowledge base from which new innovations can be created.
  • Case books and other publications -  extracts or complete versions of publications containing global examples of how people, communities, cities, governments and business have been able to solve pressing social, economic and environmental problems
  • Policy Tools & Guides - based on lessons learned from experience and designed to provide decision-makers, planners, city and community leaders with an array of proven problem-solving ideas, policy options and strategies.
  • Training materials, articles and best practice briefs
  • Best practice transfer guide - A step-by-step approach to matching supply with demand for knowledge, expertise and experience in improving the living environment
  • The 100 cities initiative template – operationalized under the World Urban Campaign, the initiative aims to give an opportunity for communities, municipal authorities, service providers and political leaders in various cities to tell their stories on how they are contributing to the growth of sustainable cities
