Background

In the MTSIP and the Work programme for 2010-11, the Training and Capcity Building Branch(TCBB) is required to develop an online course on sustainable urbanization.  In line with its mission to develop human resources and institutional capacity for sustainable human settlements development and management, UN-HABITAT launched a web–based distance learning programme in May 2007. The e-learning initiative is spearheaded by UN-HABITAT’s Training and Capacity Building Branch. The goal of UN- HABITAT’s distance learning programme is to strengthen national training capacities for better local governance and urban development. The programme, which compliments face-to-face training courses, reaches a wider and more varied audience, increases flexible and learner driven opportunities to access our training resources, and enhances effectiveness and efficiency of training delivery.
