Yuan Yuan Tan signs autographs at International Peacekeeping Week

World-renowned Chinese ballet dancer Yuan Yuan Tan welcomed visitors to the United Nations Pavilion during International Peacekeepers Week, meeting and signing autographs for delighted fans.

“I play the role of building a bridge to connect the audience and the United Nations Pavilion,” Tan said. “I want the public to visit the Pavilion to understand some of the work of the United Nations and perhaps after the visit the audience will be willing to volunteer to contribute to world peace.”

During International Peacekeepers Week, which ended on Saturday, the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations showcased its important work around the world, including its mine clearing operations. During the last three days, eager fans queued outside the pavilion in the hope of a few moments with the ballet star.

“I really like her show, so my friend and I queued for her autograph," said Zhang Lin from Nanjing, happily showing off the signed photographs.

Yuan Yuan Tan said she was pleased to be able to support the activities in the UN Pavilion.
