On 26-27 November 2009, UN-HABITAT and Cities and Climate Change Initiative will join forces with the Rwandese Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA) and the City of Kigali to hold a conference on local governments and climate change. Organisers anticipate that representatives from virtually all of the 30+ local governments in Rwanda, along with other stakeholders, will attend. The main objective of the conference, which is being organised per request of the Mayor of Kigali, will be to develop a statement from the local government sector to present to the official Rwandan delegation to Copenhagen, defining the position of Rwandan local governments on climate change. |
