Manila, Philippines; Mombasa, Kenya and Aguascalientes, Mexico, 5 Sept 08

Participants at the Latin America Regional Meeting of partners in Aguascalientes, Mexico. 3-5 September, 2008The 2008 Sustainable Cities Programme /Local Agenda 21 Regional Meetings took place between 26- 28 August in: Manila, Philippines; 11-12 August in Mombasa, Kenya and 3-5 September in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

The aim of the meetings was to give partners a useful opportunity to advance their collective know how, exchange experiences and synthesise key success factors of the programme. Moreover, discuss how to utilise EPM experiences at local, national and global levels to support cities address Climate Change impacts through UN-HABITAT’s Global Sustainable Urban Development Network (SUD-Net) and supporting “Cities in Climate Change Initiative”.
                                                                          
Each of the regional meetings organized by UN-HABITAT, gathered mayors, high-ranking city officials, urban practitioners, central and federal government representatives, urban institutions, and heads of international support programmes.
