She is passionate about Web4Dev: "I see ICT changing the face of Africa as we know it. It will leapfrog Africa into the first world. It is already happening…the African renaissance is largely because of ICT."

Web4Dev attracts attention at Global ICT for Youth Forum in Geneva

Participants at the Global Forum on Youth and ICT for Development welcomed the chance to attend the forthcoming Web for Development Conference in Nairobi 28-30 November. At a workshop on Youth, ICTs and urbanization, young speakers suggested that access to information and communication technology be treated as a basic service and proposed that all new housing incorporate wiring for Internet connectivity, together with the electricity and water supply. Web4Dev will explore Internet solutions for youth, the biggest group of Internet users.

As preparations for the fourth Web for Development gear up, numerours proposals to organize best practice sessions, training courses, and exhibitions have been received. These cover a wide range of issues from Internet solutions for the disabled in Sudan, e-learning for developing countries and using the Internet to help earthquake victims in Pakistan.
