The Habitat Professionals Charter: from Rio de Janeiro to Naples

A Meeting of the Habitat Professionals Forum (HPF) was held on 12 April in Nairobi, parallel to the 23rd session of the Governing Council. The HPF represents in excess of 6 million Human Settlements professionals who together, as urban planners, architects, surveyors, landscape architects and engineers, constitute a key partner in delivering the Habitat Agenda.
Private sector committed to support a new positive vision towards better cities

A Private Sector Strategy Meeting held on Thursday 14th April as a side event of the 23rd session of the Governing Council gathered about twenty representatives of the private sector, including the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the US Chamber of Commerce and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as representatives of companies such as BASF Social Foundation, Capital Markets for the Marginalized, Veolia Environment, Siemens, Philips, Arcadis, GDF-Suez, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Mega Consultores.
Governing Council a success for UN-HABITAT

Pushing for greener public transport and urban mobility

More than 50 representatives of local governments met in Nairobi on Sunday to discuss urban mobility and sustainable urban transport options aimed at reducing pollution, reducing congestion, conserving energy and helping make cities greener. Local authorities agreed at the meeting to make urban mobility around the world their priority for the year 2011.
