Japanese envoy presents credentials to Tibaijuka
	Nairobi, 18 Dec 07 The new Permanent Representative of Japan to UN-HABITAT, Mr. Shigeo Iwatani, on Monday presented his credentials to the Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka. Briefing the envoy on the activities of the organization, Mrs. Tibaijuka stated that Japan is a very important contributor to the activities and programmes of UN-HABITAT.


New Belgian envoy presents credentials
	Nairobi, 18 Dec 07 UN-HABITAT Executive Director Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, on Monday received the new Permanent Representative of Belgium to UN-HABITAT, Mr. Igor Haustrate.

UN-HABITAT Messengers of Truth Concert rock German city of Mannheim
	Mannheim, 11 Dec 07 The Kenyan Hip Hop superstar and UN-HABITAT Messenger of Truth Gidi Gidi last week teamed up with Rolf Stahlhofen of Germany, Samsaya representing Norway and India, and Lam of Sudan to give the German city of Mannheim a rousing concert organized by UN-HABITAT in cooperation with its private sector partner, the German chemical giant BASF, the Popakademie – Baden-Wuerttemberg, and the City of Mannheim.

	Bali, Indonesia, 7 Dec 07 UN-HABITAT’s Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, is scheduled to visit Bali, Indonesia where the agency will hold a seminar to explain the how closely climate change is linked to cities.


Senior Norwegian officials meet Mrs. Tibaijuka
	Nairobi, 6 Dec 07 Officials from the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Royal Norwegian Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development (KRD) this week held talks with UN-HABITAT's Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka to discuss the renewal of a Programme Cooperation Agreement between the Norwegian Government and UN-HABITAT for the period 2008-2009.


Assisting local authorities in Iraq
	Baghdad, 6 Dec 07 UN-HABITAT and six United Nations agencies have teamed up with the Government of Iraq to launch a new initiative aimed at boosting the capacities of local authorities to carry through development plans in partnership with the private sector and local communites. The programme will be conducted in Sulaymaniyah, Babel, and the Marshlands in a bid to stimulate local economic development and improve local infrastructure and basic services, the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said in a news release.


UN-HABITAT and Eritrea
	Nairobi, 5 Dec 07 Mrs. Tibaijuka received the new Permanent Representative to UN-HABITAT from Eritrea on 5 December 2007. She told the envoy, Mr. Salih Omer Abdu, that under the first United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for the period 2002-2006, UN-HABITAT had implemented the low-cost housing delivery system for Eritrea.


UN-HABITAT and Zambia
	Nairobi, 5 Dec 07 Mrs. Tibaijuka received the new Permanent Representative to UN-HABITAT from Zambia on 5 December 2007. She told the new Zambian envoy, Ms. Christina Msadabwe, that UN-HABITAT was involved in the Sustainable Lusaka Programme
