The Pakistan Planning Commission and UN-Habitat Pakistan this week held a conference on Creative Cities and National Urban Policy aimed at helping the country’s cities shore up better against natural disasters which have taken a heavy toll in Pakistan in recent years. |

Student led Water Quality Monitoring Progamme in Mangalore, India |

As part of the project "Promotion of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Education and Water Quality Monitoring in Mangalore City, India", water quality testing laboratories were inaugurated in two nodal schools - Jilla Panchayath Higher Primary School, Katipalla, 5th block and Pejavar Aided Higher Primary School, Kalavar today to promote hands-on water education. Dr. Harmut Unger, President, BASF Social Foundation unveiled the water laboratories in the presence of senior officials of BASF, UN-Habitat, TERI, Management of the beneficiary schools and the students. |

ICT key driver for city growth |

UN-HABITAT’s latest research, presented at the 7th annual Asoa-Pacific ‘City Informatization’ in Shanghai, China, shows that information and communication technology is a key driver for city growth. The international meeting was attended by over 400 delegates from all sectors including the private sector, academia, city authorities, and the United Nations. |
