New homes built by UN-HABITAT for teachers in the district of Lira in northern Uganda will attract female teachers in a community recovering from two decades of war and in need of strong female role models, say local school inspectors.
New UN-HABITAT library initiative for poor communities

UN-HABITAT and the Kenya National Library Services have signed a new library deal whereby cargo containers will be used to serve poor communities. The idea of the Container Library Project, a first of its kind in Kenya, is to help people living in informal settlements get access to reading material, business and education opportunities.
