The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolution 55/195 of 20 December 2000, in which it decided that
the special session of the General Assembly for an overall review and appraisal of
the implementation of the outcome of the United Nations Conference on Human
Settlements (Habitat II) should have a plenary, an ad hoc committee of the whole
and a thematic committee, the details of which were to be worked out at the second
session of the Preparatory Committee for the special session,

Recalling paragraph 218 of the Habitat Agenda1 and its resolutions 51/177 of
16 December 1996 on the implementation of the outcome of the United Nations
Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) and 53/180 of 15 December 1998 in
which it decided that its special session for an overall review and appraisal of the
implementation of the outcome of the Conference would be held in June 2001 and
that the Commission on Human Settlements should serve as the Preparatory
Committee for the special session,

days, and that the Commission on Human Settlements should serve as the Preparatory Committee for the
special session,
