Bringing people together

The first step of Community Development is to identify neighborhoods and then inform and organize the inhabitants into community councils. It involves the following steps:

  • Establishing boundaries of a neighborhood (200-300 households) and housing clusters within a neighborhood (10-15 households)
  • Organizing awareness trainings for each housing cluster
  • Electing a community development council (CDC) which comprises of a chairperson, treasurer and secretary by representatives of each housing cluster
  • Registering CDCs with the local authorities and open a bank account
  • Organizing CDCs into large clusters of approx. 6-15 CDCs
