The Advisory Board was composed of researchers with substantial human settlements expertise. Its main objective was to channel expert advice to UN-Habitat on the substantive contents and organization of the Global Report on Human Settlements. Members were appointed every two years by the Executive Director of UN-Habitat. To ensure global representation, the Board included members from various world regions.
