Following the training and sensitisation session Historic Districts for all organised by UN-HABITAT and UNESCO in Sevilla in May 2008, a Guide for Local Authorities and City Professionals was published for a training session scheduled during the World Urban Forum IV (Nanjing, China, 3-6 November 2008). All documents generated from this joint initiative were designed with the aim of helping city professionals become aware of the important role of political will in preserving tangible and intangible heritage and enhancing cultural diversity, in order to have a better understanding of building new forms of social cohesion in cities.
