Professor, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Charles Choguill is currently Professor of urban planning, at the King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he is responsible for teaching and research in urban and regional development and planning, and research methodology. He has over 35 years teaching experience at such universities as Harvard University, University of Sheffield, University of Illinois, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and King Saud University, focusing on areas such as Comparative Studies (Comparative Urbanization, Comparative Planning Systems), Research Aspects of Planning (Research Methodology, Statistics), Economic Planning (Economic Theory, Economic Impact Analysis, Regional Planning) and Development Topics (Economic Development, Urban Development, Project Planning, Appraisal and Implementation).

Prof. Choguill is also a renowned international consultant and writer. He has been a Strategic Planning and Development Policy Adviser for the Saudi Arabian Supreme Commission for Tourism since 2004, and an Adviser to the Deputy Minister for Town Planning, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs since 2006. He has written, edited and co-authored 8 books and several chapters in books, articles, training materials and reports. Since 1993, he has been the Editor of HABITAT International, a refereed journal published by Elsevier Science Ltd., Oxford, UK.
