Kathmandu Valley citizens will now have facilities of mobile toilets which will be placed at various parts of the Valley soon. Minister for Science and Technology Ganesh Shah today introduced the first mobile toilet made by Public Private Partners for Improvement of Local Environment amidst a function organised at Tundikhel. It will be officially launched in Basantapur in Nepali New Year. Though public can use the facility earlier as its service will be provided in the Fifth National Games to begin from tomorrow. One mobile toilet will have three compartments with running water and a basin in each compartment. Mobile toilet will also separate the solid waste and urine which will be changed into fertilizers. "These types of toilets will not only give facility to the public but it will also be a part of green economy," said Minister Shah. He said that it was a brilliant concept through which waste could be turned into wealth. UN-HABITAT, Water for Asian Cities progeramme provided technical support to construct this unit. The private company Kathmandu Mahanagar Palika Solidwaste Management Services invested to build and operation this mobile toilet in collaboration with Kathamndu Metropolitan City. There will be 10 units of such mobile toilet around the city.
