New Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to UN-HABITAT Mr. Jaroslav Mandys, on Monday presented his credentials to the Executive Director, Dr. Joan Clos.
Mr. Mandys informed the Executive Director that there has been long-standing relationship between his country and UN-HABITAT and gave the assurance that his country wants to strengthen the relationship even further.
He recalled that a few years ago, citizens of the Czech Republic enjoyed very cheap houses but that the cost of housing has now increased considerably – especially for young people. He noted that new policies to reduce the cost of houses were now being introduced.
Dr. Clos welcomed the envoy to Nairobi and to UN-HABITAT. He expressed appreciation to the envoy for his commitment to further strengthen the relationship between the Czech Republic and UN-HABITAT.
The Executive Director presented the envoy with some important publications by the organization. The envoy expressed appreciation to the Executive Director for the publications and for the reception accorded him.
