Delegates at the Water Safety Conference in Malaysia.
The Managing Drinking Water Quality for Public Health conference was organized by the International Water Association (IWA), the Malaysian Water Association and the World Health Organization in early November in Kuching, Malaysia.
The Conference brought together the strategic, financial, operational and legal aspects of managing drinking water supplies and facilitated close cooperation between various groups that contribute towards water provision. At the same time, some of the specific geographical and cultural challenges were also taken into account.
The Global Water Operators’ Partnership Alliance (GWOPA) presented its specific approach to capacity building through peer-support and used the opportunity to establish more contacts with operators from Asia and the Pacific region.
The concept of the Asia-Pacific Water Safety Plan network was also presented to the audience during the Conference. As a founding member of the Network, the Alliance presented its planned activities in terms of training for operators from the region.
