Start Date : 24 Mar 10
End Date : 24 Mar 10
Location:
CSOs have become increasingly influential actors in the development of countries. Some of their key roles include representation of the interests of local communities; social mobilization for action and raising awareness; monitoring the performance of local and national governments and public officials and holding them to account for their performance; and, action oriented activities leading to better livelihood and well being of the community. The objective of the roundtable will be to explore how well CSOs have performed in fulfilling their roles. How much impact have they had in raising awareness of urban issues and the solutions to problems, how effectively they have carried the voice of the urban poor into the halls of the decision-makers, and to what extent they have influenced policy formulation and implementation of programmes to ensure equal opportunities for all.
