This two-day training programme trains chief executives of municipal and district assemblies, and other staff working in local government in Ghana, on key issues and skills to coordinate the processes of gender mainstreaming at the local government level for sustainable development. The training aims to increase understanding of the relevance of gender mainstreaming within the context of Ghana’s political decentralisation programme and shift towards a more equitable allocation of power and wealth at the local level. The programme also solicits commitment for the adoption of gender mainstreaming action plans of Planning and Coordinating Units (PCUs). The training is organised by the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS), with support from UN-HABITAT. |
