Start Date : 13 Jul 09
End Date : 16 Jul 09
Location: Quito, Ecuador

Since 2002, UN-HABITAT has supported the Huairou Commission on Local-to-Local Dialogue as a tool to advance women’s agendas and to increase participation of grassroots women in local decision making.  After a series of pilot trainings, the technique is now being rolled out across different regions.  This will be the first regional Local-to-Local Dialogue training for Latin America.

The Local-to-Local Dialogue is an approach developed by the Huairou Commission for building the ability of grassroots women to engage with local leadership and authorities.  It is also an effective strategy to enhance women’s leadership and create sustained partnerships with decision makers at the local level.

The event is organised by the Huairou Commission, in collaboration with Movimiento Nacional de Mujeres de Sectores Populares Luna Creciente and Federación de Mujeres Municipalistas – América Latina y el Caribe, with support from the Government of Norway and UN-HABITAT.
