The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Guinea to UN-HABITAT, Mr. Cheick A.T. Camara, last week presented his credentials to the Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka.  Mrs. Tibaijuka briefed the envoy on the activities of UN-HABITAT both in the Republic of Guinea and worldwide. She stated that UN-HABITAT has very good relationship with the Government of Guinea and commended the Government for actively participating in the main events of UN-HABITAT such as the Governing Council and the World Urban Forum (WUF).
The Executive Director informed Mr. Camara that UN-HABITAT is at present considering the request by the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing of the Republic of Guinea for technical and financial assistance for the formulation of a National Housing Policy. Responding, Mr. Camara gave the assurance that his country will enhance its cooperation with UN-HABITAT. |
