The course will provide participants with an analytical perspective on the nature and the causes of urban poverty, the effectiveness of policies in reducing poverty and the design of effective policies. It will emphasize the role of local government in poverty reduction schemes and share relevant Israeli experience in poverty alleviation. Participants will be trained in the formulation of integrated pro poor development projects at the local level. This course is open to applicants from Sub-Saharan Africa.
