The renowned Mexican urban thinker and Lecturer, Professor Martha Schteingart has been selected as winner of the 2007 UN-HABITAT Lecture Award, the agency announced.  Professor Schteingart is one of the most prominent urban researchers in Latin America. Her research interests include urban land and housing, urban structure and social movements, urban development and transport, poverty and social policies, governance and local management, and the urban environment.
Since 1975, she has been a professor and researcher at the Center for Demographic and Urban Studies (CEDDU) at El Colegio de México, in Mexico City. She is also a National Researcher of the Mexican System of Researchers and has been a visiting professor at MIT, and a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington. Currently, she is a visiting lecturer at the Urban & Regional Planning Program at the University of Michigan. Martha Schteingart studied architecture, urban planning, and urban sociology in Buenos Aires and at the Centre de Recherche de l’Urbanisme in Paris. |
