Stockholm, 21 Aug 07

UN-HABITAT and its partner, the Asian Development Bank, hosted a seminar during the World Water Week convention in Stockholm at which a series of leading global experts discussed the latest thinking on getting water and sanitation to slum dwellers as a cornerstone of sustainable slum upgrading.

The meeting, chaired by UN-HABITAT’s Deputy Executive Director, Ambassador Inga Björk-Klevby, drew speakers from Asia, Latin America, Africa and other developing countries.

The co-chair, Mr Arjun Thapan, Director General of the Asian Development Bank, cited the Bank’s desire to learn all it could on helping transform slums into sustainable city neighbourhoods.
