 The Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, expressed her appreciation to the new Permanent Representative of Italy to UN-HABITAT, Mr. Pierandrea Magistrati, for his government’s consistent support to the work of the organization. Mrs. Tibaijuka noted that Italy has for a long time been on the list of top ten contributors to the programmes of UN-HABITAT. She also expressed her appreciation for the many Italian citizens that were working on slum upgrading projects in Kenya. Responding, Mr. Magistrati praised UN-HABITAT for its programme to provide shelter for the poor and for its activities in Serbia. The Government of Italy provides significant funding for a social housing programme in several municipalities of Serbia under the Settlement and Integration of Refugees Programme in Serbia (SIRP). |
