Background and objectives
UNDP and the of Government of Senegal are financing a national poverty reduction project.  The second component of this project is for reduction of urban poverty in the four cities of Dakar-Pikine, Djourbel, Saint-Louis and Tambacounda. UNCHS (Habitat) provides technical assistance.

Activities
Activities were launched in March 2000.

Results
A consulting firm was selected for feasibility studies on slum upgrading and infrastructure improvement.
