Havana, 6 Jul 12

UN-Habitat signed a cooperation agreement with the Swiss Cooperation in the last week of June, for the production of a "Cuba Housing Profile".

"With the ongoing changes in the housing sector in Cuba, the Profile will be a very useful tool to better understand and improve the housing situation in the country. The information will be very helpful to define strategies and set guidelines for action" said Alain Grimard, Regional Office Director of UN-Habitat for Latin American and the Caribbean.

The Government of Cuba and the United Nations also held the second phase discussions related to the formulation the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for the period 2014-2018.

The Government identified human development as one of its priorities, especially highlighting human settlements and habitat as one of the four main key themes for United Nations to support the country.

The other three priorities identified in the UNDAF were: Economic Development, Food Security and Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change Adaptation.
