The late 1990’s, early 2000’s saw Argentina undergo an economic crises which left over 60% of families in Rosario living under the poverty level. The program promotes constructive process of endogenous development with participation and co-operation strategies. Over 10,000 families have been involved with the establishment and operation of 790 community gardens involving more than 340 productive groups and producing food for 40,000 people. The program has also contributed to security of land tenure and the improvement of the conditions of women.
