  Print This Page!

Start Date : 20 Sept 11
End Date : 23 Sept 11
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
The International Expert Group Meeting on Forced Evictions is expected to provide guidance on HABITAT's future institutional collaborations (with OHCHR under the Housing Rights Programme), on the potential re-constitution/re-shape of the Advisory Group on Forced Evictions (AGFE), and on the feasibility and desirability of establishing a Global Network on Housing Rights. Within this framework, the EGM is further expected to advise on the future role of UN-HABITAT in preventing, monitoring and assessing forced evictions globally as well as to recommend priority activities within these areas. HABITAT has a unique role to play in the area of housing rights and forced evictions, - and we hope to instrumentalise the EGM to raise both the internal and external profile of the issue in order to more fully realize the potential inherent in our mandate on housing rights/forced evictions. More than 40 renowned international experts will contribute to making this meeting a success.
